Husband and wife duo The Rural Routes – a name symbolic of their Maritime and Indigenous prairie lives together – continue to burst onto the Canadian Country Music scene, driven by an undeniable chemistry, sultry vocals, rich guitar, and captivating stage presence…an experience that captures the true spirit of country music.
Alesha and Brendon Bondy have been partnering in music for many years and show no signs of letting off the gas with their brand new single "Whiskey Lie". Fresh off sitting nicely in the Top100 at Canadian Country radio 12 weeks in a row and a #7 high spot on a previous Indigenous Music Countdown with "Graffiti", Whiskey Lie is a perfect follow up that is best described as raw vulnerability cutting through an edgy background of energetic music pushing its envelope with a songwriting theme that is anything but new to country music. Have your heart broken and tell us how you’d feel?
Previous single releases have gained national radio airplay and landed the pair in the Top 25 Trax Report from January to June 2021, for CanCon Groups and Duos. Multi- Alberta Country Music Award nominations, Star Search songwriting winners, International Josie Award nominations have been but a few of the impressive accomplishments of the duo.
Produced by Juno award winner Mark Troyer and recorded alongside Canadian country music artists Matty McKay, Justin Kudding, Ben Bradley, Brendan Waters, and Mitch Jay, “Whiskey Lie” is a perfect song to showcase the married duos artistic vision and musical abilities.
Growing success has led the duo to sharing the stage with some of Canada’s most-revered country artists. The Rural Routes have opened for Corb Lund, Gord Bamford, Doc Walker and Brett Kissel to name a few.
Back in the saddle, 2022 brings an abundance of opportunity for The Rural Routes as the live performances are already heating up due largely in part to the brand new release.
